About us
Course Overview: This course is partnered with the Learning by Giving Foundation to provide students with the unique opportunity to make actual grants to nonprofit organizations. The goal of the Learning by Giving program is "to support and promote the study of philanthropy at the undergraduate level nationwide in order to prepare, empower, and inspire young adults to become effective, knowledgeable and skilled philanthropists and leaders in their communities."

The experiential philanthropic project will engage students in learning about community needs, issuing a request for proposals to the public, reviewing real proposals from local nonprofit organizations, and debating the merits of each proposal before collectively making final funding decisions to allocate $10,000.
